Four things a booking page will not tell you
Every listing says pet friendly. Almost none of them say what that costs, what it excludes, or whether it covers a cat. We record those four fields per hotel and put them in one table per city.
The fee, and its period
A $45 charge is $45 or $180 depending on whether it is per night or per stay. Both numbers, or neither.
The weight limit
The field that decides whether a 70 lb dog gets a room. A blank means the hotel does not publish one, not that any size is fine.
How many pets
Most policies are written for one animal. Two dogs is a different question, and often a different price.
Whether cats count
Pet friendly usually means dog friendly. Cats are a separate answer and we record it separately.
When we do not hold one of those figures, the page shows nothing rather than a guess. A wrong fee or weight limit is what gets a traveller turned away at 11pm with a dog in the car, so a blank is the honest answer.
Where we have data
Cities go live once we hold at least three hotels with a published policy. More are added in waves.
How to read a pet policy
- Per night or per stay?
- Ask before anything else. On a four-night trip the same number means four times the money. Our tables show the period next to the fee and a four-night total beside it.
- A chain policy is not a hotel policy.
- Most groups let each property set its own fee. When we show a chain policy it sits in its own block, labelled with the chain name, and it never fills in a specific hotel's fee.
- Confirm when you book.
- Pet policies and fees change, and a hotel can revise one without telling anyone. Every figure here carries the month we last checked it. Treat it as a shortlist, not a contract.
When you book through links on this page, we may earn a commission from our booking partner at no extra cost to you. It never affects which hotels we list or what we report about their pet policies.
